Stowes Shaft, Minions

Following heavy snow the path from Minions to Cheesewring Quarry has had to be closed due to subsidence and the opening up of Stowes Mineshaft. A surprised visitor is said to have reported the "hole" by asking if it was meant to be there.

Stowes Shaft was part of the Phoenix United Mine. The site was part of the 19th and 20th century workings. Beyond other shaft sites in the area and the hole, the mine ruins at the site are limited. The site is unstable and access is restricted for obvious reasons.

01/03 Stowes Mineshaft opens up after the snow. It's said to be deep.

03/03 Danger Mineshaft. The newly opened shaft has led to the fencing off of the path from Minions to Cheesewring Quarry.
